iPulse Hair Reduction Technology has previously only been offered in salons, but with the Boots Smooth Skin system you can achieve the same great results in the comfort and privacy of your own home. Using the system for a typical 6 to 12 treatments will give the best results and help to achieve permanent hair reduction.
IPL is the most advanced form of light-based beauty therapies, which began with laser treatments more than a decade ago. iPulse technology uses less energy than conventional IPLs whilst providing the highest clinical performance.
How does it work?
The Boots Smooth Skin system works by directing an extremely short, intense pulse of filtered light into the skin. The light is absorbed by the coloured pigments in and surrounding the hair and disables the hair follicle, helping to prevent hair re-growth.
The Boots Smooth Skin system is easy to use, simply-
1. Shave / trim the area you are treating
2. Smooth on the activator gel (1st tube provided)
3. Put the handset unit in position
4. When triggered an intense pulse of light will be absorbed by the skin and hair shaft, destroying the follicles so they don’t grow back
5. As hair grows in cycles repeat treatments will be needed to achieve the desired effect
The Smooth Skin system takes just 10 minutes to treat the underarms or bikini line and an hour for the legs. The Smooth Skin hair reduction system is not suitable for everyone, it works at its best when the hair is darker than the skin, so if you have very fair hair or dark skin you should not use this hair reduction product.

Boots iPulse promises a permanent hair reduction after 6-12 weeks of treatment depending on treated areas on the body.
Pros:
• Boots iPulse has light energy levels form 7-10 J/cm² which is higher than Philips Lumea and Remington i-Light. The energy levels of light need to be sufficient in order to cause damage to the hair follicles permanently. Higher energy levels means saving time and a quicker result.
• Can be used by males and females
• Can be used on almost a whole body including face and neck.
• No need to recharge the batteries as it comes with a cord which enables continuos treatment. Typically, cordless IPL devices would last about 15-30 minutes depending on where is being treated then it will need to be recharged again.
• 3cm² application window of Boots iPulse is bigger than Remington i-LIGHT.
